There is a particular quality of light that marks the moment when Summer turns to Autumn. Do you know it? It is glimmering, golden, and soft. It invites our bodies to sit down for a moment and take it all in. For soon, the landscape will change. This is the essence of the Sunflower Still Life. 

I received a bouquet of hydrangeas last winter, and became enamored with sketching them each day. Initially they were quite elusive, I kept making them very detailed and complex and was fascinated with their essence of simplicity. This was the last sketch I did of them, when I finally feel like they revealed themselves.
